First seasonal opening of the Serio waterfalls, we decide to change valley. We are looking for the solitude rather than the crowd. We start towards Foppolo and park where the road ends at the K2 refuge. From there we start with a mule track which then becomes a path going up the ski slopes, we get to the Salomon terrace and from there to Lake Moro. I suffer from a backache that sometimes stops me but I feel it more while standing still than when I’m moving. I keep on hiking at a constant pace and soon reach the Corno Stella, at an altitude of 2620m. Here a pleasant meeting gets our attention, an ibex with a view over the whole Valtellina. We go down again to Lake Moro and take for the variant, a small climb and then descend again to the ponds below, the lakes of Montebello, the lakes of Foppe and the Lake of Trote (trouts).
